Conceptualisation and book cover design for

The Asyn-first Playbook by Sumeet Gayathri Moghe (Product Manager, Thoughtworks)

About the book:
This book outlines the core principles of being async-first and provides techniques for agile team leaders to create a healthier working environment, enabling exceptional work without fatigue or burnout.

The ask:
The author asked me to brainstorm ideas for their debut book, which centers on collaboration and teamwork. While emphasising various aspects, the book highlights:
1. Solo deep work as a form of collaboration, promoting a divide and conquer approach.
2. Remote collaboration as a flexible alternative to in-person teamwork.
3. Advocacy for minimizing meetings, with communication prioritized as an async-first approach.

The challenge:
According to the client, it’s not very glamorous to show a person working on their laptop all by themselves, though that is what 80-90% of an async-first work culture looks like.

The final output:
The below designs were used during initial launch events of the book. However, the final book cover design was done by the publishing house.
